Obituary for Elisabeth Brush AUSTIN

ELISABETH (Brush) Austin

Elisabeth Brush Austin, 85, passed away April 9, 2015 in Lagoon City, Ontario.

Elisabeth was born in Montreal, Quebec to Jean Smith and Samuel Pierson Brush on November 16th 1929. She spent her early years in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Long Island, NY. She excelled in High School at Havergal College in Toronto and at that time she met her future husband, Phil Austin. They married in a beautiful setting in North Carolina when she was 23, after completing her nursing studies at Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal.

She was a nurse, healer, astrologer, investor, bridge and scrabble player, Toast Master, voracious reader, firewalker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great friend. She taught transcendental meditation, astrology and lead a variety of seminars over the years and was the President of the Toronto Guild of Astrologers.


She is survived by her sons Eric/Rick, Steve and Bob (Ellen); niece Sherry (Ted); grandchildren James (Courtenay), Laurel, Blake (Adriana), Dane, Brett (Vannessa), Jesse, Jensen and Keely; and great grandchildren Hunter, Emily and Hazel. Elisabeth is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Jean; her brothers Bobby and Sam; and her husband Phil.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Lagoon City Community Center on Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Condolences may be left in Elisabeth’s online guestbook at www.manganfuneralhome.com

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Canadian Cancer Society volunteers, the palliative care workers and all the support and love she received from friends and neighbours in Lagoon City.
