Obituary for John Ross BURGESS
BURGESS: John Ross “Pat” – passed away peacefully at Cedarvale Lodge, Keswick on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the age of 85. Beloved father of Patti Burgess and husband of the late Nora Burgess. Predeceased by his sisters Myrtle, Helen, Brenda and brother Bernard. He proudly served as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces and served 32 years as a volunteer with the Pefferlaw firefighters; four of those years as District Chief. A long-time resident of Pefferlaw, he enjoyed a career as a mechanic and later as a truck driver, with a lengthy employment and later retirement from Langstaff Card Co. Cannington. A sincere thank you to the staff at Cedarvale Lodge for the care they provided over the last several years. A truly “gentle” man whose smile lit up a room and embraced the hearts of all who knew him. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends. The family and friends will be received at the Mangan Funeral Home, Beaverton on Tuesday March 7, 2017 from 11 AM until time of funeral service at 1 PM. Interment St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Bolsover. Pat had a sincere affection for all animals. Memorial donations to the Ontario SPCA would be greatly appreciated by the family. Online condolences are welcomed at www.manganfuneralhome.com
