Condolence: Although I did not know Hugh, I heard a lot of very good stories and memories of his riding stable. My brother Gordy had a lot of laughs there and said that Hugh was always trying to get him on an unschooled horse to see if he could stay on it, laughing all the while. He gave joy to many over the years with his stable from all over the country. So sorry for your loss but remember the good memories and time will heal. Take care.

Condolence: My deepest condolences to the whole family, Although I am unable to attend the service today as I am out of the country, I feel fortunate that I was able to spend quality time with Hughie in the past few years observing his relentless, positive outlook on life and his situation. Each time I visited, I I noted how his spirituality deepened. hHs eyes crystal clear and burning with love and desire to live. He was always so interested in life, offering advice, fully engaged and unbelievably selfless for a man in his condition. My husband Damian as well as my daughter Arcadia were also able to visit Hugh and we all cherished these moments with him. We all remember the handsome cowboy and Hugh was impressive in that role. I say role because he always said he wanted to be an actor! But those were easy times, and even more impressive to me was how fearlessly faced adversity. What he endured and how he persevered, boy, that deserved the academy award! Hughie was an extraordinary wise, soul and he taught me a lot during those visits. I feel honoured to have known him and I know my father, Morris, felt the same. May his beautiful soul RIP. Thanks for all the night rides Hughie!

Condolence: Our connections to this fascinating man are through his daughter, Alex, and our son, Adrian. It is incredible to read such stories of his life and to see his spirit of life and adventure live on in his children and his grandchildren. His inspiration lives on and we join others who are saddened by his death.

Condolence: Deepest sympathies to you, you have lost a truly amazing man. One who will be remembered with fondness by many. Hugh was so full of fun and he shared his love of live with everyone. I was lucky enough to be one of those people and I will be forever grateful. Some of my favourite memories are those made at J&H stables.
