My first recollection of Aunt June was at the cottage on Thorah Island. She was a delightful story teller and loved to read books to children. I often think she was much happier with children than she was with adults. She was bright and well read, often calling me to tell me about a book she had just read and that she thought I might enjoy. Aunt June could also be very stubborn and opinionated about things , but then so can we all. I often thought of her with sadness, wondering what she would have been like had she been allowed to grow up with her siblings. To be taken to England at the age of two and not return till she was 12 was too much for the whole family. She never had the familial relationships that her siblings had and so she looked to her nieces and nephews. My mother Betty ( Miriam) always included Aunt June in trips that their mother, Grandma took to the West. June came several times after Grandma's death and we found her to be a very interesting person. When we were small, she encouraged us to keep scrapbooks of the Royal Princesses as she was a Royalist. She love geneology and gave us very detailed family trees. Her faith was very important to her and attending church was not a question. In later years things seemed to unravel for her and it was difficult to be so far away from her. Our cousin Bill and cousin Elinore were terrific and trying to be of help and staying on top of things and I am thankful for that. God Speed Aunt June , we love you.
